Well, the kids are young adults now so my wife and I decided to start taking care of us first. I booked a cruise out of Port Canaveral with Carnival. It was our first cruise ever and I booked with Carnival, to be honest, because the fares were the lowest. We took a 6-night Eastern Caribbean Cruise. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos before hand to get some idea of what to expect at each port and on the ship. Because the fare was so low, I was kind of expecting the food to be bad. Well, it wasn't. The food was nothing short of amazing. We stopped in Half Moon Cay, the Turks and Caicos Islands and Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic. Half Moon Cay is absolutely gorgeous!

The beach was perfect and the waves were fun. Our cruise was in December, so the sun felt warm not blazing hot. There was no clouds around that I remember and no rain on our cruise. The T&C islands wasn't that great for us, we don't snorkel, maybe next time, and the beach was rocky but that was no big deal. Lots of people opted for the nearby pool & bar but I figured, hey I'm in the Caribbean, I might as well hit the beach so we did that instead. We lounged around in the sun and it was fun. When I woke up the next day it was just before sunrise, I went to the back of the ship, hoping to see the sun come up, I should do that more often, and saw the gorgeous hills of the Dominican Republic. Wow. Just beautiful.

Basically, we ate like a king and queen for 6 days and nights, got some sun, relaxed to the point that we considered not ever coming back. The is no negative part to this review. Carnival didn't up charge us for anything, the ship wasn't the latest greatest one, but it was plenty big and fun enough, we didn't pay a fortune, and we had a blast. I am already looking at booking our next cruise. We will do this every December until the cows come home. And, if the cows do come home, tell them we are out cruising and don't care! The cabin was small. There were no windows. It didn't matter because we weren't in there much but next we will probably get a bigger cabin.

Cabin Review

Ocean Suite

It was small but fine.

Port Reviews

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

It was super cheap. It was our first cruise. We just wanted to check it out and we loved it. We will cruise again.
