This was our second cruise on the Nieuw Amsterdam. The first was the last week of February 2020, the week before Covid shut down cruising. We enjoyed the ship and crew the first time around and decided to try her again. This was the southern Carribean trip to HMC, Aruba and Curacao. Love HMC and it had been a few years since we visited the other two ports. This cruise includes three sea days which can be boring for some cruisers but we enjoyed the down time. The weather was great the entire trip and the seas were calm so a good book, a few drinks and a lounger by the aft pool was perfect.
We booked a SY signature suite again. Love the corner suites with angled balconies (6108) which provides extra room and better views. The suites have ample room and storage and are just around the corner from the aft elevators-easy access to Lido and the aft pool. Turned down an upgrade to a Neptune suite midship but may have taken the upgrade if the cabin was one of the corner suites on back of the ship which would have been worth the extra cash. Our cabin steward Yusef and asst Yogi were top notch.
We had the Have it all Pkg and felt like we got our moneys worth. We didn't max out the drink package but it was nice not having to worry about racking up a big bar bill. I made the trek to the Exploration Cafe every morning for specialty coffees for my wife and I. It was like having Starbucks on board and is included in the drink package.
As mentioned about we love the SY signature corner suites on the Amsterdam. Angled balconies two chairs, ottomans and full sized table. The bathrooms have double sinks, separate shower and jetted tub. We booked 6108 (portside) and 6113 (starboard) on the last cruise.
We had dinner in Aruba to celebrated our anniversary. Ate at the Opus Grill. The food and service were excellent.
HMC is the best private island of them all. We always make sure it's part of the itinerary on HAL cruises. Sandy white beaches crystal clear water. My wife says she could live there
