Embarking was a breeze. We had a standard verandah stateroom with our son, and our daughter had an interior around the corner with her boyfriend. Two issues with the cabin were 1. Not enough storage space for three people, and 2. No way to turn on any extra ventilation in the bathroom. We were comfortable enough in our bed but our son was not in the sofabed, he found it extremely hard. We called that to our cabin steward’s attention and asked for an extra mattress pad layer for him, but they apparently do not have these.

This is an older ship and appears to be nicely maintained. One thing I really hope they address in the next renovation is the floor surfaces on the pool deck, which are treacherous when wet. They have staff going over them with a dry mop frequently, but it doesn’t help, you have to walk very slowly there or risk a fall.

We attended the Broadway and R&B shows and they were both excellent. We also enjoyed several musicians in the lounge outside the specialty restaurants. The entertainment director ran a really fun line dance class on the pool deck a few times. I would have liked to have had even more organized dance on board, maybe a Zumba class? I have heard that a few Celebrity ships have Zumba instructors but Solstice does not.
