I wanted to see Germany and Austria, also to see the Christmas markets. My friend asked me if I was interested in going to Germany, and since my heritage is predominately German, I accepted. The food was AMAZING, and wonderful. Our servers learned our names and preferences the first day; they were wonderful and I hated to leave them behind. There were so many itineraries and things to do; I realize I signed up for too many. I should have left more time to explore on my own. I liked the variety of excursions, and definitely liked the "gentle" version. I also appreciated how our steward/housekeeper kept us supplied with wonderful bottles of water daily. I also was very appreciative of having a Viking rep. meet us at every transfer. They were very helpful and knowledgeable as well. The trip was great and I would definitely travel with Viking again. I do have one thing about the airfare: going out on United was great. On time and hassle-free transfers. But coming back, British Airways ran late on both the run from Budapest to London and London to JFK. We therefore had to literally run to the gate and were very stressed and hassled. We had no gate numbers on our tickets and no one seemed to have the info, so we didn't know where to go. Next time I will arrange my own air fare and just inform Viking of the flight and pickup info. I will also never fly with British Airways again.
I'm not sure which category the cabin was, but it was on the second level with a French balcony. It was compact and concise, had everything we needed, and the beds were very comfortable. Had no trouble sleeping or adjusting to them.
