We chose this cruise because my daughter picked it. I've taken one other Norwegian cruise and wasn't that impressed with it. But that's the one she wanted so we went along with it. Our flight into New Orleans and the shuttle to the port were fine even though the shuttle people had us running back and forth in the airport dragging our luggage behind us. It was when we arrived at the port that the trouble started. we picked a 1:00pm time slot for boarding. What a joke!!!
We get off the bus, make sure the luggage is unloaded and tagged with our cabin number, Then one of the luggage handlers comes up and wants to see our passports! What?? When we get inside the terminal it's nothing but chaos!! Literally hours of walking down one LONG hallway, then turning around and walking back up the other side of same hallway. When you think you just might be at the end of all this, you go through a door into a room of a maze of ropes. By the time we actually got to the counter to get our cards, I was ready to pass out from the heat. I was completely soaking wet. I looked like I just got out of a pool. Then they direct you to a waiting room for boarding and want you to pose for a welcome aboard PICTURE!! I am truly surprised there wasn't an all out riot. Why select a boarding time if this is how you handle things??? By the time we got on board, we headed to the first bar we could find just to get a drink {of ANYTHING}
Ice water?? Not happening!
Cabin was ok . Balcony as the smallest I've ever seen. TV was really small.
We were very far from elevators.
I thought for sure that I saw a review on YouTube that showed a small coffee maker in the balcony cabins along with robes for each of us. When I asked about it, I got a look of confusion. I didn't care about robes, but we really did want a coffeemaker The review I saw showed a small one cup coffee maker for coffee or tea. I'm going to go back and find that review and make sure I was looking at a NCL ship.
Costa Maya is a beautiful spot. We enjoyed walking around and stopping in the shops.
We took the ferry over to a different part of the island, rented a golf cart and just looked around and stopped and had lunch and drank at a few places.
Roatan had the dancers that welcomed you, they played music most of the time the ship was docked, then sang and danced you farewell when you left. It's beautiful there.
Cozumel was great except for the jeep rental place, Rentadora Tortugas Jeeps Tours. They were an absolute Rip-Off! Stay away from them.
The city of New Orleans is absolutely beautiful, so full of history and culture. The people are friendly. There are so many things to see and do. We were only there for a day, but the coolest thing I saw was the street musician with his little dog Robin who would go to the people who were holding dollar bills and take them in her mouth and bring them back to his tip jar. It was the neatest thing I ever saw!
