We booked this cruise as a chance to see several cities in South America and the Chilean fjords/glaciers, and had fantastic luck with the weather and seas - able to make all of our ports. The Jupiter is a beautiful ship with friendly, hard-working officers, crew and staff. We were in cabin 3087, which was great for it's proximity to The Restaurant, Chef's Table, Manfredi's, Viking Bar, etc. and felt minimal motion when we did have somewhat higher waves (10').

Our favorite ports were Puerto Montt with the excursion to Puerto Vara and Emerald Lake, Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands (on the Dec 8 Battle Day holiday for1914, plus a parade to honor British veterans from the 40th anniversary of the invasion) and Gypsy Cove, and Ushuaia with the excursion to Tierra del Fuego National Park. We also had a successful whale-watching expedition from Puerto Madryn and observation of Magellan penguins on Magdalena Island from Punta Arenas. All of the local guides we had spoke English well, were very knowledgeable and happy to show of the highlights of their community, and to have the cruise ships back.

On the sea days we were almost busier than the port days! We took advantage of lectures on photography, history (include the Darwin expedition), and astronomy lectures/viewings and Explorers Dome presentations (although we were not lucky enough to be able to see the aurora australis). We also enjoyed the team trivia games, mahjong play, tea in Wintergarden, wine and gin tastings, nightly shows, and of course the spa. The best dining was at The Chef's Table which we were able to visit 6 times (once for each of the menus offered during the cruise), Manfredi's visited 3 times, and most other dinners at The Restaurant. We had the lowest level of cabin and had no trouble booking all of the excursions, dinner reservations, and spa treatments we wanted either before had or once we were on board.

Cabin Review

The cabin was one of the smaller ones, but efficiently arranged with plenty of storage, seating area and desk, as well as seating on the veranda. It was totally fine even for an 18 day cruise. The shower was fantastic, as was the mattress!
