I went along with my wife and some friends for this cruise to see parts of central Europe along the Danube and enjoy the winter Christmas markets. For ME, it didn't really work. Others really enjoyed it. There was a large social group travelling together and they turned the trip into too much of a party boat. It was difficult to have low key interactions with other travelers.
The tours were generally very well done, but were just too large. More than about 10-15 people makes the interaction entirely one way. That said, the tours of Nuremberg and the palace in Prague were superb. Sadly we mostly saw the Christmas markets during the day; they are much more magical at night. One early evening we were racing to get back to the boat after a tour, and went through a lovely little market with wonderful enticing smells and sounds. It was so disappointing not to be able to stop and enjoy for even 30 minutes.
The food on the boat was generally good. The food off the boat was a little dull for me. I generally like to be around other patrons, especially locals and that really wasn't possible. Frequently the rooms were reserved for just Viking passengers. I also like to see whole menus to learn about local food. It all seemed a bit Disneyfied.
