We LOVED our Viking River Cruise Grand European Tour!!! I will have to be honest and mention a couple of things. 1. We thought this was a "Christmas Markets Tour" and it was NOT!!! Christmas Markets were part of this tour, but, not an emphasis! The tours also were at a VERY high pace and those who have any mobility questions will have to anticipate this. Another thing that I need to confirm with Viking is the "Prepaid Gratuities". We were told on our ship that NONE of these are paid to the any of the staff. This was confirmed by the Ship Hotel Coordinator. When this was confirmed, the few who did hear this were able to get an onboard refund. Yet, we mentioned this to cruisers from another ship, and their Hotel Coordinator, at an evening briefing, did tell all in attendance that these Prepaid and on Ship Gratuities were paid to staff members. I would make sure you confirm this in writing before paying online (like I did not do). I plan to contact Viking to see which Hotel Coordinator was honest with their Ship Cruisers.
So, overall, Viking had all bases covered from the time you arrived in the Airport to the time you get to the Ticketing Gate when you fly home. I was incredibly impressed with all they did and do!!! With the fast pace of the tour guides and the Prepaid Gratuity questions, I can only give 4 stars to Viking, yet, they are so close to being 5 stars+!!!!
