While the ship was beautifully decorated and the crew was great, we were extremely disappointed with the value for the money that we received. Ama was totally unrelenting in refusing to give us 5, 10 or 20% off to account for the problems with out sailing; not even $1 refund. Chief among them was the the ship stopped at the Bratislava shipyard and only offered one time to get back to the ship. This forced the cruise to spend its "formal night" in an active shipyard. Passengers did not have the opportunity to enjoy the town in the evening or come and go from the ship as we should have been entitled. The cruise manager's response was that Ama's problem was somehow our problem to deal with.
In addition, there are basic problems with the ship and issues with this particular sailing. The toilets are absurdly loud and sound carries so easily throughout the ship that my husband and I had a significant amount of trouble sleeping. Unbeknown to us, this sailing not only included an Ama film and photography crew, but also the full cast and crew of some BBC production. This is mildly disruptive and something else thought passengers should have either been forewarned about or compensated slightly for.
For a luxury ship, there were terrible oversights like the corridors smelling terrible for several days and the pillows being so flat they clearly needed to be replaced months ago. I guess these issues aren't surprising since the "hotel manager" spent the whole of cruise sitting at his desk and being of no help.
