This was our fourth cruise on American Cruise Lines. We've also sailed on Cunard, Viking, Celebrity, and Princess. The quality on ACL beats all the others in every way. The service is more personalized and caring, the food is better, and the ships are more comfortable. We were on Viking in France in May and although nice, Viking is clearly a notch lower. One great feature on ACL is the complimentary pre-dinner cocktail party each evening which brings almost everyone out and makes it so easy to meet other passengers. We sailed from Charleston and stopped in Beaufort, SC; Savannah; Hilton Head; Jekyll Island, and Amelia Island. They were lovely ports and multiple shore excursions were offered at each, all at very reasonable prices, with two complimentary excursions. Beaufort was probably our favorite.
One of the highlights was the excellent guest speaker who did so much more than making presentations. She offered impromptu walks on shore. On the ship, she often gave off the cuff commentary of things of interest as we passed.
The food was great and beautifully presented. Half portions are offered which makes it possible to enjoy three meals a day plus extras without overindulging.
Spacious with plenty of storage space. Beautifully appointed and spotless.
