19 years ago we visited Antarctica and my husband proposed to me at Brown Bluff, surrounded by penguins. We hesitated to return because we had had such a wonderful experience and we did not want those amazing memories spoilt. But we need not have worried. Scenic gave us the most amazing trip and more.

The wildlife, especially in South Georgia, which we had not visited before, was breathtaking and the Antarctic peninsula just as we remembered. Although it seems slightly at odds to have a luxury yacht in such a dangerous place, it really works. The design of the ship is such that it is very stable and safe in high seas (external balconies breaking the momentum of any rogue waves), which when combined with state of the art stabilisers, a first class captain and crew, and a multi talented and experienced discovery team led by a hugely experienced expedition leader (in our case Boris Wise) meant that we felt safe at all times as we explored this amazing part of the world. We were also assured in the knowledge that the ship takes bio security very seriously.

Between the South Georgia and the Antarctic peninsular we hit a storm which meant the seas were wild (6-9 metre swells) but the ship (and its amazing crew) coped admirably.

Cabin Review

Very roomy, very comfortable bed, excellent bathroom and great balcony. Being picky it needs more drawer space and hooks to hang up outside coats. They also need to ditch over elaborate coffee machines and plastic takeaway cups and give everyone a memento, reusable, mug to take to the various places that serve coffee.
