We just completed the 9 night Southern Caribbean Cruise on Grandeur of the Seas. The ship may be smaller and "seasoned" but it offers an excellent classic cruise experience. By classic I mean it doesn't have massive water slides, bumper cars or an ice rink -- the main attraction is cruising on the ocean. This smaller ship is quaint and easy to get around on without the newer ship bells and whistles. You really get to know the staff and many of the passengers.

Our cabin was on Deck 3 Ocean View mid-ship and was totally adequate for our nine-night cruise. It was very clean. The bed and pillows were very good. Our room had a 2-person loveseat which was nice to sit on in the morning with room service coffee. The window in our cabin was large and offered a good sea view and natural lighting. We didn't find the room outdated at all, it was a typical cabin like on many other ships. Our room attendant was excellent!

Our itinerary was fantastic! We had five ports of call in a row and three sea days: one before our ports of call and two on the way back to Miami. We visited Puerto Plata, Dominican Rep.(Nice port area with shopping, bars and a large swimming pool), St. Thomas, St Lucia (excellent!), Barbados and Antigua. Some of these ports the newer larger cruise ships can't get into so the ports of call on this cruise were a bonus to us!
