We were booked on Radiance which of course was cancelled so we had to transfer to Ovation. This will be our first and last time on such a big ship. Embarkation was not bad as we got on at Sydney reasonably quickly. Cabin and steward excellent though only one cabin service a day now. If cabin cleaned in morning no night time turn down. Food was acceptable perhaps they could work on presentation a bit more. Believe it or not in main dining room portion size of mains was sometimes too big. Windjammer menu much same every day. Can highly recommend Fish $ Ships. It is excellent with food freshly cooked as you wait. Chops grille was the same as it always has been for last 10 years. Jaime’s was a hit or a miss. Disaster on first visit but when complained offered free meal. Second visit excellent, loved it.

The entertainment was the biggest disappointment, what little there was of it. The show Pixels was very good and very clever but after that it was downhill. We only had one production show in the theatre at the beginning and then one good comedian, one mediocre comedian and one poor comedian juggler. When challenged the cruise director said they had difficulty finding acts in Australia who wanted to work in cruise ships. Believe that if you will.

Royal Caribbean ship this size should just give up on formal nights. With four separate dining rooms the formal night experience is lost and the menus those nights is nothing special. And as for any kind of dress code forget it.

Cabin Review

Ocean View Balcony

Very happy with cabin. Shower definitely bigger than previous ships as I could bend down and pick up soap

Port Reviews

Nice little village only went ashore to get wifi at library

Picton

Probably too small for a visit from large cruise ship. Heard few complaints not much to do there

Tauranga

Lovely port to visit

Wellington

As usual visited Te Papa museum. Must be one of best around.

Wellington well named the windy city
