We chose this river cruise as it allowed us to experience the German Christmas Markets in Rudesheim, Koblenz, and Cologne. This was our second Viking cruise and was as great as the first one 5 years ago that sailed the Danube.
Our stateroom was the Explorer Suite which has a separate living room area from the bedroom. Bathroom had heated floor and large shower. In relative terms for a river cruise, it was spacious and came with many perks, including a private transfer from the airport in Basel, room service breakfast, laundry service, Silver Spirits package, including all items in the mini fridge.
We thoroughly enjoyed the stateroom and decided to forgo the included morning excursions to explore the cities on our own in the afternoons. We typically are go go go on cruises, but this one we were able to relax and unwind more and do things on our own schedule.

Small German town to explore. Viking provides maps that make it easy to explore on your own
Beautiful old town to explore
The Christmas Market opened when we were in Rudeshiem in the evening. Quaint old German town with lots of character.
Probably the least favorite stop. Interesting windmills but far from the highlight of the trip
We stayed two nights more in Amsterdam. The highlight was the canal cruise we did. Highly recommend that to explore the city without getting run over by all the bicycles.
