We chose this cruise for the destinations more specifically Israel and Ephesus. I had incorrectly assumed that due to no sailings during co-vid and that the ship had been in for refurb that it would be refreshed. This sadly was not the case. They installed their medallion system and removed the aft adult pool, hotter and bar area to make room for more cabins. The ship looked and felt tired, the cabins and washrooms small and worn out. PRINCESS adding a mattress pad does not fix a worn out bed!!! There were numerous areas where equipment was not working "waiting for parts" and no dedicated coffee bar, apparently good coffee is to expensive. Yes the did have two expresso machines, one in the buffet dining room and one at the midship bar that opened at noon. The main dining room was very good although depending on where you were seated could mean dinner took 1-3hrs to complete. The buffet was a joke. No fresh hot breakfast items, everything was pre-made and usually rubbery or luke warm. Entertainment was the highlight of this cruise as little else was. The staff that were working were for the most part very good but you could tell that the ship was seriously understaffed as most venues you had to serve yourself.
We do enjoy Princess cruises but 1: never again on Island Princess and 2: will definitely check before booking as we feel they are no longer in the mid range cruise category of Celebrity, Cunard, Holland America ,Virgin but rather a tier below which for their price point is unacceptable.
