Thought we'd try the pride of the fleet . Great metalwork ,shame about the rest of it . This ship sums up Britain , too many people ,too few services . They try to cram 5200 people into facilities for 3000, by using a virtual queueing system that is supposed to work thro' an app on your phone , might work with a ship full of 17 yr olds ......not with older people . You have to plan every day ,book lunch ,dinner ,theatre or you won't get in . One lady summed it up when she screamed across the buffet ,''THIS SHIP IS JUST TOO DIFFICULT'' .
People go to the buffet because it's an uncomplicated fight for a seat dining ,i've been cruising for 25 yrs and never seen so many people in a buffet at 7pm
The ship has 6 speciality dining venues where you pay extra for better food , that should be a warning to people , the standard food is below average .The entertainment is below average , this is a major cost cutting operation by P& O .I note they are offering 14 night canary cruises on Iona for £880 , I'm not surprised ,it could be free ,i wouldn't go on it again and probably not P&O . If you've read this and think i'm a fussy ,whining old man ,well check out trip advisor and the other review site ,they are knee deep in people moaning about Iona .
Lovely new cabin , good storage ,great bed ,well planned ,high bed so deep suitcases store underneath .
