After reading many of the CC Reviews we had low expectations...A Thanksgiving family gathering put us aboard the Margaritaville at Sea. Being senior cruise veterans we've seen and experienced a lot. Based on these reviews we could easily imagine a 'disaster at sea'. But no! This ship, the crew and dining room exceeded our expectations...This 'quickie' two-night cruise is a pleasure. And the price is right.
First of all this ship is old school, a nostalgic blast from the past. This is what cruise vessels were like back in the day. So enough with the cliches, it's beautifully refurbished, bright & clean! Some of the venues are small, especially cabin bathrooms and they are basically equipped & designed, no bells & whistles, but it all works...Bright colorful paints, Jimmy Buffet art work, parrothead props and frequent use of familiar lyrics are easy on the eye and create a pleasurable Margaritaville Paradise atmosphere.
Overall the Crew was pleasant and engaging. Many were energetic and obviously embracing and enjoying their jobs. Staffing levels seemed sufficient...The entertainment and activities were fine, some hits some misses...Communications regarding activities, facilities, dining reservations/options and disembarkation could be better...The most pleasant surprise was the quality of the dinners. Without a doubt the cuisine in the main dining room was AMONG the best meals we've had on any cruise line. Many of the Starters, Entrees and Desserts were popular standards. They were good quality, well prepared and tweaked with culinary imagination. Who knew?
Comfortable bed, nice tv and good channel selection. Colorful. Lighting options and bathroom plumbing fixtures need attention.
