First, the New Orleans cruise terminal was a nightmare. We followed online directions only to discover that the main entrance was closed and we had to re-route through awful traffic in downtown New Orleans. Once there, people were told that they couldn't check their luggage curbside and had to go through security with all their large bags and sit with them in the terminal waiting room.
There's NO onsite parking! You have to park several blocks away at either the parking garage (if you pre-booked in advance) or the outside parking lot a few blocks away if you didn't book in advance. It really sucked trying to drag our heavy luggage around in the weather. The area also felt extremely unsafe with people sleeping on benches and tents.
Once on the ship, it was by far our worst cruise experience ever and we've cruised with all the major lines.
Would have been great if not for the backed up toilet and raw sewage smell for the first 2 days.
Smelled awful, tons of pushy people trying to sell stuff, loud noises, uneven walkways. We heard gunfire and shouting about 10 minutes after leaving the ship, so we turned around and went back to the Breakaway.
