So we choose this cruise because Celebrity has been a luxury line with fantastic food in the past. On this cruise we found that we had a beautiful ship, the service was good, the dining room food needs improvement, and we had a terrible tour.

We have sailed Celebrity many times and rebooked hoping for the same experience. Again, the ship and its spaces were spectacular. The Tuscan dining room service was excellent and the cabin service was good. Unfortunately, we booked a catamaran tour from St. Thomas to St. Johns, which we have done many times before and it was a disaster. Instead of the catamaran coming close to the ship for pickup, they put us on taxis for 45 minutes to ugly places on the island to pick up the boat. In the past, the catamarans have been a 5 minute walk away. So although this tour was a 4 hour tour, you got only 2 hours on the water. Not what we paid for and this was not on the web site when we booked it, so was quite the rip off for the passengers. Then the Crew showed up late, not cool. We were an hour and 1/2 late getting back.

The dining room dining was subpar. We have always expected the food on Celebrity to be excellent, as it has in the past and that is what we pay for, however it wasn't this time. We would rate it a 2 out of a 5. Interestingly the food in the buffet was much better. We were surprised to see that Celebrity was charging up to $65 per person for the upscale restaurants such as the steak house, very expensive. Honestly, it felt like they were serving terrible food in the dining rooms to force you to buy good food at the upscale restaurants. We pay enough for the cruise to get good food. Read more
