The overall cruise was excellent. Everything was first class from the cabins, meals and service It was also very nice in that meals and activities on board were not formal. We tried to sit at the same section for dinner every night as our waiter was outstanding. We got personnel attention from him. The only drawback to the trip was the pre and extended cruise excursions which were not as well coordinated. We signed up and paid for extra excursions for the post cruise itinerary but the ship had no record of it. We paid a second time aboard the ship and then had to deal with Viking customer service following the trip to be refunded. While they ended up refunding us for the double payment, it was as if they were doing us a favor. We also had Viking book us our air. On our flight out, our second flight (from Salt Lake City) was cancelled and we had to be rebooked and rerouted the next day on a completely different airline. We had originally paid for upgraded seats which were not available on the new flights. We were supposed to be refunded for this (received a voucher) but more than a month later we are still dealing with the airlines. Viking has done nothing to help even though they booked the flights. We also arrived a day late to our pre-cruise excursion in Budapest. We were assured by Viking reps in Budapest that we would be partially refunded for this by contacting their customer service upon our return. We had purchased travel insurance as well through Viking. Upon calling Viking Customer Service, they immediately pushed us off to the travel insurer and even though we asked that they refund what they had said they would, they insisted that we first go through the travel insurer. This has been extremely difficult and time consuming and we are still waiting... The actual cruise and excursions we were on were excellent however it is an oxymoron to say that Viking has Customer Service.
