This is our 8th Disney Cruise. We also own a travel planning business and are HUGE Disney supporters. Comparatively speaking, we were quite disappointed in this cruise. Much of what makes a Disney Cruise different and magical has been lost on the Wish. Where to begin?
Ship Layout - This is probably the most stark difference between the Fantasy and Dream. The layout of the Wish is not good. Someone had a great idea and totally screwed it up. They moved the kids club to deck two, which makes sense given that it takes up about 1/2 of deck 5 on the Fantasy and Dream. What should have been a good change was decimated by nearly every other decision. They eliminated the group of bars and clubs that are in the aft of Deck 4 on the Fantasy and Dream and replaced them with a number of separate "bars" scattered around the Wish. The net effect of this is that the "adult" area is undefined and therefore, non-existent.
They also eliminated a huge portion of the "adult only' pool deck that used to take up 1/3 of the upper two decks (forward) and replaced them with one tiny pool in the aft of Deck 12. What makes Disney magical for everyone is that they give children an unbelievable experience, but they also provide a great vacation experience for the adults. They allow the adults to break away from being parents for a brief time. It's why I pay nearly double for Disney and consider it a value and yet you have chosen to move away from one of your biggest points of differentiation. I find this bewildering.
The cabin was similar to the others on the older ships. We had a Family Balcony Stateroom on Deck 8. The TV is larger and they replaced the hick center curtain with much thinner sheet so light gets in more easily. Not sure why. Also, the kids can't easily watch on the TV from the bunks in the room. It's a larger TV but less able to watch unless you are in the King Bed. And for some reason, the TV was not mounted straight. It's like looking at a frame that isn't straight and can't be moved.
Castaway Cay is always great. It's the best Cruise owned island we have been to.
