I choose this cruise to give MSC a try. I had read mixed reviews and made the decision to form my own opinion. This was after a horrible experience 11 months ago with Carnival (never again either). Embarkation was an absolute nightmare on this sailing. We were given a check in time of 11:06 am. Upon arriving at the port it was a zoo. My husband is a disabled AMERICAN VETERAN and we were told by MSC, to let someone know so he would not have to stand for to long in a long line. We did and were taken care of, but when called to the counter for check in were berated with guest who had been standing in line. They had no idea we were called from a sitting area just to the right if the counter and actually did wait our turn, just from a sitter position. The person checking us in apologized for their behavior and stated she would explain it to them. I asked her to please make sure they feel like crap for opening their traps. Next we were told to go up to the second floor to embark the ship. We were treated with please take a sit, boarding has not started. Fast forward to 2-1/2 hours later, and almost being trampled we boarded the ship. Complete chaos! The ship is beautiful and everyone was friendly the first day. Drink services was not up to par and most times we were getting up to get our own drinks. The cabin was nice and quiet the first night, then the second night a couple with a small screaming, running, jumping crying child was upgraded to the cabin next to us. So the balcony we paid full price for was never used, due to the couple making their whirlpool a private kiddie pool for their child. When we called the front desk, we were told we’ll move you to another cabin! Excuse me NO, move the couple and their child to another cabin. We agreed to look at another cabin, but it was a downgrade from what we PAID for! Long story short they were not willing to upset the couple they upgraded, but instead insult us as if we did something wrong. Because relaxing on your paid balcony is not allowed. They did NOTHING to make it up to us, and actually insulted me by stating they offered to move up but I refused to “COMPLY” yes they went there with me. The food was always cold. The 24 hour beverage station had no cream for coffee in the early morning. No flavored water and even though we had a premium plus drink package you could not find a beverage after 3am. When I asked for creamer for my coffee I was told No we only offer black coffee at this time. It was Luke warm at best, and stale to say the least. There are zero trash cans on deck and no one came to pick up empty drink glasses, cups and napkins blowing all over in the wind. Absolutely horrific! The staff and management had an excuse for everything and I mean everything! Dinner in main dinning room was a nightmare and the food was less than subpar and that’s being nice! If you are looking to relax and have great service, I recommend Celebrity and to stay away from MSC! They have years to go to compete in the American market. I deserve a full refund for the nightmare we endured for 7 long days! Buyer beware!

Cabin Review

Cabin was nice, but a little worn for only being a little over a year old. It was next to a whirlpool suite balcony, so the balcony was larger as well as the cabin had some extra space to move around in. We could here the family that was upgraded through the walls and their child never stopped running and screaming. We couldn’t use our balcony because of this for peace and quiet to get away from the crowded decks on sea days, and our sleep turned into being on their schedule. Cabin Stewart was great for the first 3 days then basically stopped coming. He didn’t even make the bed one day! And NO our DND light was NOT turned on.
