The Grotto on NCL Escape

I chose this cruise because I enjoy transatlantic sailings. We embarked at Civitavecchia, visited Livorno, Cannes, Barcelona, Alicante, Malaga, Cadiz, Lisbon, Ponta Delgada and disembarked at my home port, New York City. We had seven fun filled sea days. There were alot of trivia games offered. NCL Escape has great entertainment and dining was also very good. Lobster is offered as an upcharge in the specialty dining room. The food in the buffet, 3 main dining rooms and the specialty dining rooms were yummy. I enjoyed dining in the Manhattan room as live soft music was provided. The quality and temperature of the entrees were very good. The crew was the friendliest I have encountered (I have sailed 50+ cruises). The ship was very clean and crew seemed to be cleaning and sanitizing all the time. The drinks were tasty- I am so glad I had the drink package and was able to enjoy a drink or two or maybe three. My go to bar was the Brew House. The best bartender/mixologist is Sydney. He is a historian re everthing Noreweign. He and his crew treat you like family. As I stated the crew on the Escape is fantastic lead by Captain Andersson. Captain Andersson kept crew and passengers updated and made choices to ensure our safety. I had an excellent vacation and will do the crossing again on the Escape in 2024 (they are not doing it in 2023).

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom

I had a BD cabin - cabin #9826. The cabin was a nice size, clean and well maintained. However, when I sail the Escape again, I will chose another cabin. It turns out this cabin is above the kitchen that serves Bayamo and Pinchos Tapas Grill. In the early morning hours you hear the staff preparing for the day. Lots of loud noise at ungodly hours!

Port Reviews

Barcelona

Love this wonderful, cosmopolitan city. The art is incredible. This not my first visit. I have visited Sagrada Familia Church y Gaudi, and Museu Picasso. The people are friendly and dining in Barcelona is wonderful. I enjoy strolling Las Ramblas, drinking sangria and people watching.
