We chose this Beyond because we were on the Edge just before COVID and thought it was the best cruise we had ever been on in over 30 cruises. The ship was similar to the Edge with a few welcome additions. As others have said, it was the staff and service experience that brought the rating down. We had some initial issues with our cabin steward, and service in the MDRs was not the greatest. We did not make it to the Cosmopolitan, but others told us it was the worst. I don’t understand why Celebrity makes it so hard to pre-make reservations for MDRs and shows, I think it causes a lot of aggravation for the passengers. Having to get to a show 30-45 minutes early to get a seat is just a waste of time.
We ate dinner at Raw on 5 (4 out of 5), Eden (4 - very slow service, not quite as good as we remember on the Edge), La Voyage (5+++ - outstanding; my husband said it was the best beef he has ever had in his life), Garden Roof Grill (4 - service slow here too). We also found most bartenders all over the ship were very stone-faced, rarely smiled or engaged with the passengers. The one bartender at the martini bar who put on the best show was fantastic, but he said he was finished with his contract as of today so don’t know if he will be back. MDR food was typical, nothing special for the most part. The Cafe was very good, every day with different themes. Pizza way in the back was open until the wee hours and was very popular.
We love that there is entertainment all the time all over the ship. There were the formal shows, various performances in smaller venues, musicians scattered about. We also love that this ship is geared to adults, there were about 5 kids on the ship, and everyone was there to party. People stayed up til all hours. Silent Disco was a big hit on both nights. The casino was packed almost every night and they had to kick people out at 12:30 on the last night as they got close to Fort Lauderdale.
