We chose Viking because we know several people that have sailed with Viking and they thoroughly enjoyed their cruises. The Empires of the Mediterranean was chosen because of the ports in which it docked. All of the cities were wonderful, historic and interesting. All of the tour guides we had were very knowledgeable and interesting. Our favorites were Dubrovnik, Corfu and Athens. A couple of the extra tours we wanted to take were sold out when we tried to book them. Upon arrival at the ship, we immediately went to Customer Service and were able to book them. The staff on the ship were fabulous. Everyone was polite, friendly, and efficient. We had the least expensive cabin and it was plenty large enough and very comfortable. The Restaurant was very good. The menu had items that were available every day and another page that changed daily. The wines served with dinner were very good. I did not enjoy the buffet restaurant as much. The lunch options were more like dinner options than lunch. I would have preferred a more casual menu. The pool grill did have more casual options - burgers, hot dogs, etc. The breakfasts delivered to the room were very good..Do not miss the pool and hot tub in the spa. It's very relaxing. We are planning on taking another Viking cruise - probably try a river cruise next.

Cabin Review

Veranda Stateroom

The cabin was very comfortable. It had a king sized bed, two nightstands, a desk and chair, two upholstered chairs with coffee table, a large closet and veranda with two chairs and a table. There were also several shelves and drawers. The bathroom was very nice with plenty of counter space. The cabin steward was great. The room was always made up when we returned. The mini bar and water was always replenished.
