We always knew we wanted to take a second river cruise after our wonderful experience on the river cruise from Vienna to Amsterdam many years before. We also love Portugal after visiting the Lisbon area twice before and wanted to explore the Douro River in the north. Our experience was again more than we could have imagined. The small size of the ship and number of passengers, the staff, the dining experience, the programs offered, the onboard entertainment and the excursions were all reasons why we loved our trip and will plan on taking a future cruise.

Our cruise director was knowledgable and entertaining, as were the guides on excursions. I love how a crew member directed each passenger to their stateroom as we embarked the Helgrim - we had our excellent chef direct us! We know we'll take a third cruise with Viking, be it river or ocean. They do it right and do it well every time.
