I benefited from many of the reviews, and I thought I would leave my own review for future travelers. This was our first cruise of a family of five with daughters ranging from eight to twelve years old. As our first cruise, not knowing if we liked the concept, we mostly chose MSC due to the cost compared to the major brands.
Overall, we had an excellent time with MSC and the logistics of traveling with the kids and trying to please five different members of the family were covered.
Outside of the pool towel situation and poor culture MSC leadership has established around pool towels, all members of the staff were professional and welcoming. A special call out for Puttur and Aljon in the dining room. The staff in the game room for the flight simulator and race cars did a good job with the younger kids.
Cabins were clean and we could easily hold one adult and two children (we have two rooms for a family of five). It would have been nice if a single card could open multiple rooms but it sounds like this is a system limitation. Beds were somewhat hard and uncomfortable - Think low end Marriott hotel branded mattress.
