Chose this cruise for the eastern Mediterranean itinerary and to experience the Splendor. We've been on the Explorer and wanted to compare. Like the decorations and feel of the Explorer better but this is an excellent vessel. It handled the gale-force winds and waves we encountered one night just fine. We stepped down from Penthouse to Concierge D for this 17-day trip and the room was very accommodating for our needs. (If you get Glenda & Romeo as your cabin stewards - you won't need a Butler) Laundry included was great - no need to over pack - 24 hr turnaround. Shipboard food and entertainment were Excellent. Big reasons we like Regent. Not all wait-staff in pool deck area had a good command of English, as their second language, but they tried hard. I guess Covid wiped out a lot of experienced crew members who could speak and understand English. It will take some time for cruise lines train new crew. There were a lot of first-timer crew members on our vessel, but the old-timers were spot-on with their friendly service. We had a long list of names to praise in a end-of-cruise survey, but they only do "on-line" surveys which didn't work with an iPad. So, Regent will never hear how much some of their crew impressed us. And they didn't tell you this until the next to the last day when most of us were on a 9-hour tour - simply no time left on the cruise to go to the business room and sit at a PC. Strangely, the mi-cruise survey was "paper". Go figure that logic out. Someone at Regent mgmt. needs to address this issue. The Crew make or break a cruise. Also. Regent needs to make the survey process open for post-cruise comments from their patrons, so it can be done from home. Highly recommend Regent for the quality of their vessels, comfort of the rooms, the excellent food and entertainment, and the training of their crew. The captain of our vessel was funny and engaging.

Cabin Review

Concierge Suite

Concierge D is all the room we needed for our 17-day cruise. Able to hang all our pants and skirts and shirts and drawer space was excellent. Narrow closet accommodates one person at a time and if your very over-weight - good luck. Nice shower w/nearly instant hot water. The soft-blue night lighting by bathroom door is a nice amenity - no need to pack a night-lite or have the bathroom light on all night. The two 110-120 volt and two USB ports by the bed is a nice change. We didn't use our converter at all. Binoculars and umbrellas were supplied. Foam pillows available upon request. Semi-firm bed was comfortable. Deck seating was very comfortable. Cabin steward service was excellent. Plenty of storage in the bathroom too.

Port Reviews

Trieste

Trieste was a great port city and we had adequate time to shop and walk. The ports of call and the vessel were big reasons we chose this cruise.

Taormina (Messina)

Great history and views. Lots of quaint restaurants/bars/cafes to choose from.
