Background Information

This was our 17th Princess cruise (26th overall for me) and our 3rd on Discovery. We had originally been booked on the 2/26/22 "Love Boat" cruise on Majestic Princess which was rescheduled by Princess due to Covid. This was our 3rd time doing a Mexican Riviera itinerary. This was our first time doing an official theme cruise.

Cabin Review

Balcony (obstructed view)

This time our cabin was E429 - not far from our E406 cabin we had in Mar/Apr 2022.

Considered a balcony with partially obstructed view and extended angled balcony - view to the right has lifeboats.

Cabin décor & size - New Princess color scheme (taupe, gray, teal, and blue). Cabin was 247 sq ft.

Cabin steward was Zhenya (Philippines).

Cabin location & proximity to ship features - Mid-ship starboard side close to the panoramic lifts and stairs so very convenient access to everything in the Piazza.

Cabin features: Princess Luxury Bed, two nightstands with two drawers and a lamp with a USB port, desk had three drawers (top has the built in hair dryer), usual power outlets and USB ports, side chair, mini fridge, walk-in closet with 5 shelf storage plus safe. Bathroom had usual configuration and shower unfortunately had the annoying curtain.

Port Reviews

Cabo San Lucas

We simply got off the ship for a late lunch at The Office on the Beach - a restaurant recommended to us by cruising friends. We had guac/salsa/chips and garlic jumbo shrimp pasta. Everything was very fresh if a bit pricey.

Mazatlan

We did the ship's excursion: Panoramic Hiking Views to El Faro Lighthouse 8:30-11:30am $34.95pp

We had a great tour guide Christobal from Tropical Tours. They aren’t kidding when they describe this tour as strenuous - up 745m trail followed by 336 steps! Best views of Mazatlán is the reward though. Not an excursion we're likely to repeat but glad we did it.

Puerto Vallarta

We did a private excursion: Taste of Pitillal Food Tour by Vallarta Food Tours 11am-2:30pm $61pp.

This tour is a culinary walking tour through the Pitillal neighborhood. You will not see any other tourist gringos - you are eating where the locals eat! We had 7 stops where we had carnitas taco, carne asada taco, machaca taco, seafood tostada, birria taco, tamal and atole, and ice fruit popsicle. Our tour guide also took us to the San Miguel Arcangel Parish Church, a local tortilleria, and pointed out various local food vendors and shops. Great tour for foodies interested in getting off the beaten path.
