Awesome vacation, great boat and crew, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We chose this cruise to celebrate a special occasion, purchasing nearly two years ago on Supersaver. We are regular river cruisers and like the Emerald product and staff personal interactions. Azzurra exceeded River cruising for cabins, amenities, food, and overall experience. We also enjoyed near perfect weather, one just one deviation from itinerary. Had sunshine and flat seas throughout, except first night (3-foot seas, some swaying underway).
Boarded at Civitaveccia (Rome) taking self booked train and taxi instead of provided bus because we spent extra early days in Rome. Worth it, and we arrived 90 minutes before most travelers. Cabin (B) was excellent; good size with lots of storage, outlets, lights, seating, and private balcony. Unless you are set upon a suite, recommend B (level 4) or A (level 5). Suites have forward or aft facing spacious balconies, but I don’t see the value trade off, and the aft area can be noisier due to pool, dining room, and watertight doors closing.
Itinerary was embark, Sorrento, Palermo, Trapani, Porto Empedocles, Valletta, Catania, Naples, depart.
Roomy, plush, lots more storage space then a River cruise. Lots of shoe drawers. A
Bathroom has a full size shower, and plenty of cabinet and stowage for a couple. A-
Seating includes a loveseat, ergonomic chair, and the balcony chairs. A
Lights offer a variety of illumination. Don’t miss the switch for the overhead light by the makeup chair.
Beds were twins pushed together, with thick topper pad and duvet. We swapped duvet for a blanket. Bed was good not great ( pad gets lumpy, slopes off). B
Balcony is great. Don’t miss sunrises and sunsets. A. Level 4 seemed ideal.
