We chose TUI because it included their flights to and from Barbados, also we had sailed on this cruise ship a few years ago and had a fairly good cruise. The flight was delayed at Gatwick due to some passengers packing lithium batteries in their hold luggage, all bags had to be off loaded and the offending batteries removed. That caused a delay of well over an hour. The flight was uneventful and the pilot made up most of the lost time.

On arriving at Barbados airport we were all put on small 30 seater coaches for the 30 minute drive to the cruise port. After 15 minutes into our journey the driver crashed into the back of a stationery taxi, and there we had to stay until the police turned up. One hour fifteen minutes later a policeman arrived and took statements from all those injured on the coach, my wife included, he also photographed every ones passport. A replacement coach was sent out to us and after over 2 hours stuck on a hot coach with no water or toilet facilities we made our way to the ship.

We were the last to check in, no apology, no assistance, nothing. I complain at reception after we had checked in and eventually a letter of apology was sent out!!! Big deal !! My wife was attended to by the medical staff having been hit on the head by flying luggage in the crash, we were also told we may get a bill for this visit!!!!!!!! We didn't in the end. Read more
