Going to Bordeaux has always been a dream -- we love wine and also interesting places with historical significance. We've previously been on Viking cruises on the Danube, the Rhone/Soane (in Burgundy) and Porto, Portugal. We have always enjoyed Viking's itineraries, staff, cuisine and shore excursions and this trip was no different. We especially loved that the meals featured local specialties and wines.
The shore excursions and local guides were excellent, with plenty of time for individual exploration. The included excursions were well done. There was plenty of variety and because this was a "wine cruise" lots of visits to vineyards and wine-tasting.
The optional excursion we joined was alright, but seemed more like a "sales pitch" for the site we visited.
Shout out to Slav, our housekeeper -- he was terrific!
