We last sailed in October 2019 and were not sure if COVID would ever allow us to get back on the high seas. After several postponements we chose this 9 night Southern Caribbean cruise for some much needed R&R after being cooped up for far too long.

We flew into Fort Lauderdale and spent several days at the Lago Mar Resort before the cruise. It’s one of our favourite hotels and we absolutely love their pools and beach. Normally we would watch the cruise ships come and go from that beach but surprisingly there were no cruises departing from Port Everglades during the four days we were there - the Equinox was the only one that week!

On embarkation day we took an Uber to the port and were amazed at the efficiency and ease of the check-in process. Our arrival time was 11:30 and from curb-side to the promenade deck took only 15 minutes. We went directly to our room to get our room keys and drop off our carry-on bags. While there we did the virtual emergency drill and watched the safety videos. We then went to our Muster Station at the Ensemble Lounge and finished the process in less than 10 minutes! We hope this new muster drill is here to stay.
