We chose this cruise because we had a great experience on the Norwegian Jewel in June of 2019 for a great Alaskan cruise. This was our first post-COVID cruise since then. This also was our 23rd cruise, so we are very experienced cruisers. This cruise was chosen as a birthday cruise for me and we were very excited to be on our first real vacation since 2019.
The ship frankly was the most disjointed and non-intuitive ship that I’ve ever sailed on in my life. The ship was retrofitted a few years ago. It’s the only ship that I’ve ever seen where there are no aisle-ways in the common areas. In order to get to a restaurant, you may be required to walk through two restaurants to get there. There is terrible signage that doesn’t provide you with any clue where you are going. Some floors require you to walk up a flight of stairs or take the elevator up to walk either forward or aft to descend where you’d like to go.
We had all but one meal in the specialty restaurants. We had 3 meals at Cagney’s; 1 at Le Bistro and 2 at La Cucina. The meals were good, but not great. Limited menu and the oysters at Cagney’s were sent back because they were not fresh. We had one meal in the regular dining that was sub-par average.
