In Banff national park prior to Rocky Mountaineer trip

Regent is our favourite cruise line and we chose this cruise to coincide with the celebration (a year late due to Covid) of our Golden Wedding Anniversary.Having flown into Calgary we stayed over before transferring to the Rimrock Hotel enjoying a day in the Banff national park before boarding the Rocky Mountaineer for a two day journey from Banff to Vancouver prior to our Alaskan cruise. Unfortunately I was taken ill halfway through the Rockies but thanks to the calm and caring assistance of the Tour Manager, Clare, and the RM Customer Service Manager, Angela, I was speedily transferred to Kamloops hospital’s A&E, saw a consultant who arranged tests and prescribed medication which meant I was well enough to enjoy the rest of our Golden Celebration cruise. Two nights rest

in the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel was followed by embarkation which was a messy and long winded, confused procedure due to the local travel restrictions involving both Canadian and US authorities. Once on Mariner we could truly enjoy this special trip. Our aft suit was spacious with huge balcony, more than able to accommodate table and four chairs plus two reclining loungers. The bathroom benefitted from a large shower with integral tiled bench and plenty of storage for toiletries. A chilled bottle and champagne and treats awaited our arrival. Siva our Butler was very professional throughout and our delightful Steward, Jay, and Stewardess, Ni, kept everything shipshape and sparkling. The dressing room could have done with more lighting along with a larger safe, preferably with an interior light. Plenty of hangers and storage drawers were very useful. The Illy coffee machine was fiddly and a Nespresso, as in the top suites, would have been more efficient. Bed and linen very comfortable, exactly as we requested. Mini bar the same, stocked with our alcoholic and non alcoholic favourites. We found Prime 7 still dominated with huge portions and restricted menu. We will not use it on our next cruise. Chartreuse was our favourite with its understated but excellent menu and charming atmosphere. On our Celebration dinner the whole staff team made such a fuss of us, singing and presenting us with a special cake and treats, which was miraculously whisked to our suite to enjoy at leisure. Jay and Ni

had decorated our bed, which was like being on honeymoon! The Alaskan weather was true to form a lot of the time and some excursions were curtailed or cancelled. However this did not affect our enjoyment as loads to do and see on board. The sea was very rough some of the time but Captain Palm and crew were brilliant at reassurance! Disembarkation at LAX was efficient but LAX Airport was not! 8 US dollars for a trolley and a shabby concourse with very little seating available. Security was efficient and the lounge a welcome haven before our BA homeward flight. Regent will not disappoint as everything is included and standards are above and beyond all in the industry.

Cabin Review

Horizon View Suite

Excellent space and furnishings. Good art work and lighting. Dressing room poorly lit and safe too small. Plenty of hangers and drawer space. Dressing table well lit with good magnifying mirror.
