Able to drop off our cases at bag drop on our arrival midday, check-in was shown to commence at 14.00 and it did. As we all know currently due to Covid requirements this can be a laborious process but in all fairness all went well for us (if only people helped themselves a little more e.g. paperwork wise etc things would definitely run quicker). It's quite some time since we've sailed with Azamara but almost everything is as we remember it (all in a positive sense). We were very happy with our balcony cabin (7110). Good wardrobe space compared to many of the new larger ships and everything has a sense of class. However the bathroom is still very small and sadly still has that over familiar shower curtain. Toiletries, towels and linen are of of a good standard. Everything about the bed (mattress, pillows etc very comfortable). Sun loungers are excellent and all have a fitted thick cushion, and quality full length towel (all are prepared awaiting your arrival). We visited the Aqualina speciality restaurant on our first night onboard - outstanding (staff, service, food, wine - have re-booked. Update: Second visit, food of same standard as first visit but as the restaurant was now busy the first two courses appeared far too quickly, had to request a 15 minute break before dessert). Even though you are provided with a complimentary drinks package, for us the upgrade to the Ultimate package at $23.95 each per day was a no brainer (with Champagne at $14 a glass), but we appreciate many would not find it necessary to upgrade from the standard package provided. Dined in the Discoveries restaurant on day two, we were blown away by the quality of the food in the regular restaurant, it was considerably better than many speciality restaurants we have dined in on other cruise lines, actually my wife stated the the Tuscan steak was the best steak she had ever eaten. Breakfast served in the room/balcony is excellent, there is a reasonable size table in the room and a larger one on the balcony, the choice of in room breakfast items is in excess of the norm compared with many other cruise lines (just one tip for the Brit's - you may want to bring your own teabags?). A slight criticism has crept in as the cruise has progressed, despite daily port calls various items have temporarily run out but these items did reappear within a few days. Ports of call have been wonderful and helped by fabulous weather. Staff are absolutely superb (especially the table waiter Anderson, who really went beyond the extra mile). Wi-Fi is not unlimited for all guests, most receive 90 free minutes but packages in excess of this can be purchased if required.
