Summary first: In short, we had value for money even with the added cost of the Premium package as we could drink proper champagne and ‘Whispering Angel’ Cotes de Provence rose wine throughout the voyage. There were some positives but also negatives with this cruise such that we wouldn’t book a Princess cruise again.
The cabin was excellent (mini suite) with a very good layout having the sofa next to the window and the bed next to the bathroom to ease night time navigation. The bathroom was very adequate with a shower over the bath, fortunately the bath was low so it wasn’t a particular hazard climbing in to the shower. The balcony was small but adequate for the time of year we were travelling with a trans Atlantic crossing. There are a kettle and tea/making facilities in the cabin and a range of charging points. A very good feature was the walk in area for changing with an open wardrobe just outside the bathroom. The bed was supremely comfortable and the decor light and classy. The cabin walls are thin and we could frequently hear the television from the next cabin and that was irritating.
Internet: We could each connect 4 devices on the Premium package wifi but the speed of the internet was woeful and not just when crossing the Atlantic. When it did connect it was flaky at best but ‘WhatsApp’ did work at times. The Medallion Class App was useful for keeping an eye on the number of drinks left on our package and checking my onboard account (I suggest you do this daily as charges were wrongly added to my account but soon rectified at Reception). We didn’t use the App to order drinks, preferring to go to the bar as it was much quicker and you could check the drink brands you were being given - e.g. the one time we asked one of the staff to get us a drink, Prosecco arrived rather than the champagne on our package - first world problem I know!
