Cabin: Family Balcony

Prima is a beautiful ship and the things we loved about her, far outweighed the really bad aspects of her. We loved the large family balcony cabin, although not having room for a family of four adults in this room, without having to put a couple onto the pull out bed and the kids onto the twins is a huge issue - why are there no drop down bunks in the family cabins? The large size of the bathrooms were amazing and really nice. Better than any other line for this category of cabin. Our cabin was also very quiet mid ship on deck 13 - we had heard that the walls were paper thin, but we did not experience this. We loved the beautiful seating areas by the atrium windows on deck 7. We loved spending time on Deck 8 outside and walking the whole way around and sitting and using the binoculars. We found the color palate of the decorations to be absolutely beautiful and the feel of the ship and cabin hallways so nice. Indulge Food Hall was absolutely spectacular and I will and am looking to rebook just because of this aspect of the ship. Amazing food and selection - such great crew members here also. But again, with this technology, why can't there be some way to indicate free tables on a screen or somewhere for the staff to direct people to. You are forcing too many people to crowd into this space doing circles upon circles, making it extremely uncomfortable for both crew and passengers. There has to be a better way, but please keep this free and included. The Local was good but again, a very difficult space on the bar side to use for any high amount of people. Its really just a walkway, which makes seating there uncomfortable unless you're using it on the restaurant side. The addition of the technology at the elevators for booking is really good, but so many people had no idea about this and we saw no one explaining this. Easily explained at desk check-in but its not. This would alleviate the crush into Syd Normans to get bookings for the shows. Which leads me to the venues - what a stupid stupid stupid idea to make the Improv that small. There are way too few entertainment options during the day that don't pack you into this small space - why is the theater or Atrium (with more and better seating and not folding chairs during busy times, which happened) not used more? The Metropolitan Bar area is weird (stinky from the Humidor and another passthrough with no character) and could be repurposed into the Improv and be a better space. The Embarkation was a nightmare for a lot of people in NYC. This needs to be addressed before the next NYC sailing - its not like NCL doesn't sail out of here all the time. Truly awful experience. The Prima Speedway was fantastic! We loved the Oceanfront Deck 8 infinity pools too, but not sure why Starboard was bone chilly cold and Port side is warm - not sure why one is drained often also. The slides are good, but super sticky. The Drop gave us a sudden jolt as we stopped at the clear section and had to scoot forward to get going again. The Ship is HOT. Its really warm, everywhere inside, stifling at times. The temperature controls definitely need some work. We lost all power several times in our cabin also. These we can chock up to getting the kinks out, but via this survey this should be known. The specialty bottled drinks in the Belvedere Bar are too sweet and need to be adjusted - bartenders knew and would add club soda to help offset it. The Observation Lounge, while a little small, is wonderful. As stated at the beginning, the things we absolutely loved about this ship outweighed the bad and we can't wait to sail her again and see many of the kinks worked out. We are graduating from Gold level Disney Cruise Line passengers and want to make NCL our new home on the high seas with our now adult kids with us. We just need some tweaks by NCL to make that happen on the Prima. Thank you for a great cruise! Its been since 2018 since we sailed and we loved our experience on the Prima getting back to sailing.

Cabin Review

Family Balcony

The family balcony cabins are very nice. Large bathrooms and large balconies with upgraded deck chairs with cushions and reclining function. Bathrooms have lots of storage. The size of the bathroom is really far and above other lines for this category. The problem is when there is more then three adults in the room. The pull-out couch opens to almost touching the desk area making it hard to go to the bathroom at night or move around the cabin when it is deployed. Not sure why there is no pull-down beds on this ship. Make sure you look at videos and photos before booking with a family or group of four.
