Our good friends invited us to join them on this cruise to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. At the time of the invitation, we were unable to commit to the trip, so we had to decline. Several months later, we discovered that we would be able to go on the trip, but we decided to keep our decision a secret and surprise our friends.
This was a trip we had dreamed about for years. When we encountered our friends at check-in, they were stunned and totally surprised. It worked!
The trip was wonderful from start to finish. The air arrangements were flawless. Check-in was a breeze. Our cabin was perfect--comfortable, clean, and plenty roomy enough to store our luggage and our belongings. The staff and crew were, without exception, friendly and courteous, yet very professional. The food was to die for. Thank you Zsolt and staff for the extra pounds we gained from eating your delectable dishes. The shore excursions ran like clockwork. Thank you David Wander for your attention to detail, organization, communication, and never-ending enthusiasm!
Our cabin was a French balcony. We loved the ceiling to floor window and sliding door which allowed for expansive views and plenty of fresh air. Our cabin steward kept the room spotless. We loved the heated floors in the bathroom--what a nice added touch! There was plenty of room to store our luggage as well as all of our belongings. The bed was very comfortable and we slept soundly every night. The public areas were always spotless as well and we enjoyed spending time with our friends in the lounge.
We chose the excursion to the Kinderdijk Windmills and Booij Cheese Farm. It was a great optional excursion and after we returned to the ship, we commented that if every tour was this good, this would be a fabulous trip. And it was! Our tour guide was Jacob. He was nice and funny and a wealth of knowledge. r tour
Our tour guide was Terri, and it turns out that she was originally from Dearborn, Michigan, and had attended the same high school where my husband was a teacher. We loved the quaint little town of Miltenberg with all of its beautiful half-timbered houses. At the end of the tour, I commented "I could live here!"
