We added this river cruise after spending a week on the French Riviera, attending a wedding. The cruise itinerary, besides Paris, included Normandy - a bucket list item.
To see and walk the actual invasion beach along with visiting the cemetery was quite emotional.
Although we had studied and practiced the French language weeks before the trip, it was never an issue on the cruise. Of course, our French was quite useful on the Riviera. But Viking’s entire crew, as well as tour guides, spoke English.
