We booked this cruise to go in early 2020, but then COVID hit and it was postponed. I think it was postponed 4 times and the final delay was because the ship was not built yet; a large part because of COVID. The ship was beautiful and well decorated. The restaurant was very nice; however, it quickly became apparent that the staff had not been trained in serving wine. I had a difficult time explaining that we preferred to drink red wines from the proper glass. Although we do not feel like wine snobs, we do know that wines taste better served in the proper glassware. Quite often we would order a bottle and it would be opened before they brought it out to the table. We were never offered to taste before pouring. We had purchased the beverage package, but found that to be problematic too. There were liquors listed on the bar menu that were not in stock. Our cabin was very nice and spacious and the steward did an excellent job. Even with some of the shortcomings listed above, this trip will go down as one of our most memorable and that is based almost exclusively on our Program Directors (Guides). They were extremely knowledgeable and had a way of explaining history so that we all seemed to enjoy it rather than feel boredom. We booked the pre-trip to Jerusalem and the post trip to Jordan. The guides for all three countries were exceptional. When we reached Jordan, there was some confusion among passengers who thought our guide's tips were already included. My wife and I tried to spread the word, albeit a little late, that we all needed to tip her. In fact we added a little extra to recognize her talent. I am afraid she may have been shorted.
