Sail Date: Oct 2022

We are fortunate to have been on quite a few cruises this year and feel that the Ventura is starting to show its age and we feel it is urgently in need of an upgrade.

There are still a lot of positives about cruising on the Ventura.

The meals in the mdr restaurants were on the whole very good but we do feel that there is less choice, saying that we always found something that we could order (we were impressed with the quality of the desserts).

Port Reviews

Cherbourg

Shuttle bus takes you out of the port area to the edge of town by the police station

Be careful on a sunday as most of the shops are shut apart from the supermarket

Porto (Leixoes)

There are 2 options via the shuttle bus one takes you to downtown leixoes the other one takes you to cais de gaia about half an hour away. While this is not strictly porto it is a very pleasant area to walk around and is actually where the port cellars and world of wine is located. Also When we visited there was a craft market there as well. There are plenty of different options for wine or port tasting. Our favourite was calem

Vigo

Again this is a place we have visited before. As you exit the terminal building there is a big shopping mall on the right with a rather limited amount of shops.

The main shops are effectively straight ahead and up a steep hill/steps.

Alternatively go to the top floor of the mall exit right, go over the bridge up a slight hill past the church then up the slight hill again will bring you to the top of the main shopping area
