We did the Grand European Tour from Amsterdam to Budapest. This is our fifth Viking cruise first one on the long ships. The Grand European cruise was our first Viking cruise 12 years ago (Budapest to Amsterdam) and we always wanted to do it again. Prior to our trip we were concerned with the water level situation in Europe but recent rain eliminated all issues and we never had to switch ships.

This cruise was to celebrate our 25th anniversary so we splurged and had an Explorer Suite.

The entire experience from start to finish was amazing and Viking lived up to all our expectations. We used Viking Air and they were great. Personal service and really worked to get us the best flight itinerary. Viking representatives were on hand to provided personalized service from our arrival in Amsterdam to our departure in Budapest.

Cabin Review

Explorer Suite

A quick note on the ES. I've read posts about the noise since they are directly above the engines. Yes, it's louder than in the front of the ship but not unacceptable. The only time we really noticed it was when the engines were on full power going upstream. It was never loud enough to keep us up at night or wake us up during the night. The loudest vibrations by far were from the cabin safe. We discovered by just opening it before going to bed took care of that problem. It's VERY nice and big! Highly recommend it be considered if you have the financial means.
