So we wanted to do an Alaskan cruise. After reviewing options, it seemed NCL had best deal. I will start with what was great.
Cruise ship itself is really nice, clean, well kept and organized. Staff is great for the most part. The areas traveled to were fantastic. Breathtaking views from all over the ship not to mention in our aft facing balcony room.
But as to the itinerary, one port got cancelled and replaced with another which was disappointing but I realize the reasons were beyond the control of anyone. The trouble comes in that at most ports they do not allow enough time at. Couple destinations it was literally 4-5 hours. Enough to maybe get an excursion in but then no time to do anything else which is disappointing because the towns were great. And Victoria port was there at 8pm and left at midnight. Seemed like a great place to visit yet it was dark and most things closed so nothing to really see or do in time we had.
Standard balcony cabin similar to other ships we have been on. Not a lot of storage for a one week trip. Bathroom water pressure was horrible. Bed was mostly comfortable. It was hard to get temperature at an even level in the room.
They had a nice running commentary of glacier area from Park rangers. Weather wasn't great and when at the glaciers, it would have been nice to spend a little more time since some areas get super crowded. But great views nonetheless.
This was a substitute for Skagway since it was closed off. We had a great excursion to see whales which was fantastic. But then there was limited things to do there otherwise.
Place was great but only had limited time. We were able to go up the tram but then had to get back for an excursion for a salmon bake that while good, was not worth the money. But excursion took away any time to spend exploring the quaint little town so that was disappointing. People were very nice there.
Again, the only bad thing here was the limited time. We had an excursion to go see crab fishing and then a crab feast that was out of this world good. But then by time we got back from shuttle, had to get on boat to leave so no time to do anything else.
Wish we could have spent so much more time here. We didn't arrive until night and then only had 3-4 hours to do anything. We did an horse trolley ride that would have been fantastic if during the day and could have really seen the town. Seemed like such a cool place to check out and literally had no time or everything closed.
