My husband and I are in our late 60's and trying to travel as much as we can. I have read many, many reviews and I think some people just expect too much. You make it your own. We NEVER had any cruise employee that was not helpful, friendly, and go out of their way to do anything for you! Every meal we had at any specialty restaurant we exceptional. Even the main dining was very good. The only time we had any minor complaint was from the buffet where the chicken got too dry and the BBQ brisket was too tough. But out of 21 days of travel I think that is remarkable. I highly recommend you take your own jug/bottle filled with ice and water when you go on excursions. We got ours at the water dispenser in the Horizon. Otherwise they sale bottled water for a price before you leave the ship. I think with the price you pay for the excursion that bottled water should be supplied. We loved most of the ente rtainment. All the comedians were very funny! We recommend you go to one of the main dining rooms that offer breakfast. We didn't do it until we had only 3 days left. What a mistake. The eggs benedict was wonderful. And don't pass up the almond croissant. You can't get it at the buffet. They are to die for. Almond paste filling. We ALWAYS had top notch bar service, no matter where we went. I think all the bar tenders got to know us quite well. We both loved the Medallion. We had NO trouble boarding ship. NO long waits. Everything went fast and very organized. Same with leaving the ship, it was extremely well organized. Took us less than 5 minutes boarding and leaving. I have been on three other cruise ships and they were no where near as well organized. We loved coming back from our excursions to be greeted with cold wet wash cloths and ice water (some infused with lemon or lime). I loved the ship locator on the TV. Only wish I could look it up on my phone. We are quickly looking for more cruises. We met so many wonderful people from the US and so many other countries. Again, if you don't know how to make the best of EVERYTHING, then don't expect a cruise to be PERFECT. You make it what it is!!!
Could have used two chairs. We took extra plastic folded hangers for our clothes and also hook magnets that we hung a lot of things on and also our daily paper. Remember the walls are all made of steel. Our linens/towels/washcloths were changed everyday. There are two large containers in the shower with body wash and shampoo.
We went three days before our cruise and explored Barcelona. It was wonderful!!! Great food, beer and places to see. We stayed in the Gothic area.
