We have cruised with P&O a few times in the past and they are usually better than some cruise lines for food and destinations. Although this was the most expensive cruise we have ever been on (at over £20k for a group of 4) it was by far the worst in terms of the cruise experience provided by P&O. They have cut back service in many areas (presumably to cut costs) but have completely lost sight of customer service and why people used to enjoy cruises. The staff were generally very good (particularly our restaurant waiters) but seemed to realise that for many passengers the experience was not what they had hoped for.

Destinations

There were two disappointing changes in itinerary – one before we travelled (as they couldn’t go to the Faroe Islands for “operational reasons” whatever that means) and one port was cancelled on the morning we were due to arrive, apparently because of the weather although it seemed quite calm while we were nearer to the coast (when we went further out to sea it was rough which made us regret the missed stop even more).
