We chose this cruise specifically for the itinerary which included stops in Giverney to visit Monet's house and gardens and more importantly Le Havre providing an all day excursion to the Normandy D-Day beaches. As a first time river cruiser I have nothing to compare our experience to but I am only left with wonderful memories of our cruise. Embarkation was a breeze-check your name off the list, get your photo taken at the reception desk and you are ready to go. The dining on Ama Waterways has a great reputation and the AmaDante exceeded expectations! Breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner and late night snacks were all excellent. Every morning they offered the same items with two or three specials. Breakfast highlights included fresh squeezed orange juice, chocolate croissants, breakfast bowls and the best French toast I have ever eaten. The lunch and dinner menus were different every day with a few standard items being offered daily. For me, the portions were perfect but if you have a bigger appetite the staff are happy to double up your portion. Wine, beer and sodas are complimentary with lunch and dinner. All the menu items were regionally inspired and the food is locally sourced-so fresh!! We actually saw them loading all the fresh fruits, veggies, meats, cheeses, etc at one of our stops. The Chef's Table is phenomenal from the food to the presentation to the wine to service; this is an experience you do not want to miss! And as with most everything, the Chef's Table is included in your cruise fare. For the hour before dinner Ama hosts a complimentary cocktail hour known as Sip & Sail-very nice. The bar staff was great and wanted to make sure you had whatever you wanted to drink! The AmaDante has a very nice lounge which was the main gathering place-prior to leaving for an excursion, Sip & Sail, entertainment, enrichment talks and a place to sit and hang out and watch the scenery. The lounge is where you find the bar, snacks and a coffee machine for espressos, lattes and cappuccinos anytime! Upstairs is the spacious sun deck complete with chairs, loungers, oversized chess board, corn hole, walking track and jacuzzi. The AmaDante also has a small gym with an infra red sauna(very nice!) and a small salon staffed by a massage therapist and hair dresser. Ama boasts a robust wellness program. Each ship has a wellness host who leads several classes every day which are also all included in your cruise fare. The excursions (also included) are all excellent with several choices to match a variety of interests and activity levels. My favorite were the bike tours-all around Paris, Giverney riding to Monet's house and pedaling around Le Havre. They are led by local guides and accompanied by an Ama staff member. You can also take a bike and just ride around town or along the river-fantastic!! Specific to this itinerary by far the very best part of the seven days was the one centered around the Normandy D-Day beaches, the stop at the American cemetery and then the visit to the Caen Memorial Museum. There is not enough time in one day to pay proper tribute and see all the beaches but Ama does a great job of giving an overview tour. The entire Seine river cruise experience was absolutely fabulous. Our cruise manager was nothing short of amazing handling everything with grace, warmth and a smile. The Ama app is first rate and very user friendly. I am sure I have forgotten to share something. I will definitely choose Ama Waterways when it is time for my next river cruise!!

Cabin Review

Stateroom with French Balcony

The cabin had everything we needed including plenty of storage space-drawers, shelves and hanging space. In room amenities include Evian water replenished daily, glasses, ice bucket, robes, slippers, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, umbrella, shoe horn and lint brush and extra blankets. The room is refreshed and cleaned morning and evening. For those who are wondering-full size suitcases fit under the bed. The in room entertainment is on an iMac with a keyboard so you can stream movies, watch shows, listen to music or log into your account and take care of emails. It was really nice having the French balcony-just to be able to open the door and get the fresh air and get the feel of being on the river.
