This is another place we did a tour with via ncl as where the ship docks there did not seem to be anything of any interest, there was a hop on hop off bus option  but that was over $50 dollars each !!
The tour we did was probably our favourite of the cruise very informative and amusing tour, we then had an hour cruise of the harbour which was also very informative

The observation deck is on deck 15 if you are at the rear of the ship you can get to it via internal corridors (which we thought was a bit odd)

Bars, drinks  and food 

There was a  very good selection of drinks available including a good range of cocktails  they do tend to put a lot of ice in the drinks which can water the drinks down, i found by saying easy on the ice worked well, they had a starbucks but was charged extra

(if you do have starbucks coffee just be aware that you will pay gratuities and tax on top )

For the speciality dining you seemed to be able to have most items  unless there was a separate cover charge listed 

We had meals in the la coruna, la bistro and cagneys and were all very good

Our favourites bars  were the cavern and the mixx bar

 We tended to have breakfasts and lunches in the buffet restaurant  and evening meals in the mdr particularly Savor 

The standard of food in the buffet  on the ncl joy was very good,  lots of choice and some days unusual items would appear, our only slight criticism was while the  desserts looked great they did not always live up to expectations 

Again the food  in the mdr was very good plenty of choice,  we never struggled to find something to have

The service was also very good but oddly deteriorated slightly towards the end of the cruise (course,s took longer to arrive ) 


 

Entertainment  

In the cavern there was a particularly good band on called 4 blue, also a duo called azul that played mainly in the atrium

The entertainment was ok but heavily geared towards our american friends



 Excursions 

The trips via ncl we found to be quite expensive so just opted for the ones we did not seem to be able to sort out outAll the staff were great, very friendly and polite

 We did a lot of research before coming on this cruise and there is lots of information stating that you have to pay gratuities on top of the free drinks package, we did not  experience this

In some ports you will find you pay a small amount of tax (there was a sign on the bars stating this 

There were gratuities of $16 per person per day added to your onboard account, but rather oddly reading the information that ncl gave us it does not include bar staff ?
