This was our first MSC Cruise. The 1st of 4 nights, we both came down with food poisoning. We do not know what we ate or drank, but we did notice the next 3 nights they were serving bottled water at no charge in the dining room. The 4th night we contracted Covid. We were masked and sanitizing constantly while onboard, and while briefly visiting (1/2 hour) Nassau and Ocean Cay. Needless to say, we were not happy with our cruise.
The service in the dining room was impeccable. The food we would rate 3 out of 5, nothing special. The room stewards were excellent and attentive. The entertainment we would rate 3 out of 5, as very little wow factor and many times seemed amateurish. The decor is elegant. The captain's messages were blared in the hallways. We were unable to comprehend them from inside the cabin. By the time we would get to the door, the announcements were basically over. We never did find the library. We had to change cabins the 2nd day as our balcony was encased in metal and we could not see out without standing up.
We paid for an unobstructed view balcony. The cabin we chose we were not aware had a metal frame so we could not see out unless we went out on the balcony and stayed standing. We were moved to a new cabin after 2 trips to customer service and substantial time spent discussing this problem.
The cabin stewards did a great job of tidying up our room and we felt it was clean.
