We've sailed four times with Royal Caribbean, once before with Princess and once with Carnival. This was far and away the most expensive cruise - and almost the most disappointing.
Despite Princess's touting of its MedallionNet app, it's really hit or miss. Preloading all your required documentation does not change how long it takes to clear the regular onboarding process: it's still all paper. Once on board, we were disappointed to find our supposedly upgraded statement was just a regular stateroom with a very small balcony. The stateroom showed serious signs of wear. The shower leaked, so we had to keep towels on the floor at all times. The furniture was weirdly arranged and awkward. The small sofa pitched down towards the floor which made it uncomfortable to sit on. The bed pitched the opposite direction, so our heads were lower than our feet.
Climate control in the stateroom was pretty hit or miss with most problems around humidity control.
Dated, worn and awkwardly arranged. The sofa dips downward and the bed dips in the opposite direction. It was rarely comfortable and we were either way too hot or way too cold. Humidity control was a real problem.
We flew in to Barcelona several days ahead of the cruise. This is just an amazing city with wonderful food, outstanding transportation and so much to see and do. We're coming back.
Pretty much Nassau on the Mediterranean. Lots of shopping in a charming village.
Utterly fantastic tours of Avignon and the Papal Palaces.
A very physically demanding day, but we toured Vatican City, the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain.
